The Furman men’s basketball program has added Duquesne University transfer Isaiah Watkins to its 2014-15 roster, it was announced on Monday by second-year Paladin head coach Niko Medved.

Watkins, a 6-foot-8 forward from Toronto, Ontario, will sit out this coming season in accordance with NCAA transfer rules before having three years of eligibility remaining at Furman.

“We are very excited to add Isaiah to the program,” said Medved. “Isaiah brings a lot of versatility with his size. He can stretch the defense with his shooting, can go down in the paint and finish and rebound. Isaiah has also had the luxury of playing with and against some of the best competition in the country during his time with the Nike CIA Bounce travel team out of Toronto and St. Benedict’s Prep School in New Jersey. Isaiah has the ability to play a major role in the years to come for Furman Basketball.”

As a freshman at Duquesne during the 2013-14 season, Watkins appeared in 16 games after missing the early portion of the campaign due to an arthroscopic knee operation in October.
