Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger had a disc fragment that was pressing up against a nerve removed Thursday in a surgical procedure at The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

According to Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren, Pronger will begin a walking rehab in a few days and will begin core strengthening in six weeks.

Holmgren said a full recovery is anticipated and that Pronger should be able to participate in training camp in September without restrictions.
