"In a conference call Wednesday, running back Fred Taylor clarified his remarks about the Patriots looking at more film than the Jaguars and said he didn't mean to criticize coach Jack Del Rio.
"It's kind of a like a text message," he said. "He didn't hear my tone. He didn't know if I was laughing or joking. He didn't hear any of that. We'll talk. I have the utmost respect of him."
Taylor, though, said a "little piece of me" didn't like Del Rio's suggestion that he wasn't a veteran leader.
"I thought I was by actions. I've always said I led by actions. Because he didn't hear the tone, the perception is, 'Maybe Fred was talking down on us.' I wasn't and I never will. I'm going to be a Jaguar the rest of my life. I would never do that," Taylor said.
He added he would never take a shot at Del Rio.
"You never burn bridges. Why would I burn bridges? I would never say that even if I felt that way. I have no problems with Jack. I really don't," Taylor said.
Taylor said he was referring to the fact that a group of Patriots get together Wednesdays after work for more film study. And he said he wasn't talking about the Patriots as a whole, but position groups.
About his suggestion that Jacksonville could lose the team to Los Angeles, Taylor said, "Sometimes the truth hurts. If the fans want the team to stay there, they have to show that they want the team to stay there."
He said the NFL plans to move a team to Los Angeles eventually and added, "Part of it was me being a funny guy. I don't want to offend anyone. Never do, but you've got to be realistic."
He declined to discuss whether he'll play on Sunday and listed himself as questionable. He took part in the Patriots' entire practice Wednesday."
