"Fred Jackson came away from a meeting Tuesday with running backs coach Curtis Modkins feeling better about his place on the Buffalo Bills' depth chart, but he wasn't ready to say everything was peachy. He expected to find out this weekend whether the meeting was genuine or gibberish.
"There's still some stuff that needs to be ironed out," Jackson said. "He told me I was the starter, and we can go from there. We'll see how things pan out."
The Bills play their third preseason game Saturday when the Jacksonville Jaguars visit Ralph Wilson Stadium. The starters will likely see more action than they had in the first two games. Jackson has been told he is the starter, but he wants to see how much he plays with the first offense before moving forward.
"It's easy to say something, but we'll see what happens on Saturday, what my role is and what we do in the game," Jackson said. "This will be the one true game for us. Normally, for starters, and what you're role is, it will definitely be determined this weekend.""
