"Amid the disorder surrounding the Washington Wizards this season, guard Randy Foye has distinguished himself as one of the team's steadying influences. That composure has been especially valuable in recent games, when Foye incorporated a slew of new teammates into the offense while asserting himself when needed.

Such was the case in the 118-116 overtime loss to the visiting New York Knicks on Friday night. With 15 seconds to play in regulation, Foye released a 20-foot jumper that rattled around the rim and bounced above it before falling to tie the score at 112 and force the extra session.

"Randy's clutch," said forward Al Thornton, who has played five games with the Wizards since joining the team from the Los Angeles Clippers in a three-way deal. "He's a combo. He's a guy that can score as well and a guy that can be a pure point guard."

Over the past four games, Foye has reached double figures in scoring three times, and he's been efficient in the process. Against the Knicks, Foye went 8 of 11 from the field and finished with 22 points. On Monday in a 101-95 victory over Chicago, he was 7 of 13 for 16 points.

As the point guard by necessity and not necessarily choice, Foye also has been conscious of making sure those around him get involved. He had 10 assists against New York, seven in a 99-94 loss to Memphis on Wednesday and nine against the Bulls. In those three games, Foye had just five turnovers. "
