Michigan State football has its eyes on one of the top running backs of the 2015 recruiting class: Darrin Hall of Austintown Fitch High School in Ohio.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder already has an offer from MSU and several other programs. MSU will lose running backs Jeremy Langford and Nick Hill to graduation after the 2014 season, so they’re looking to restock.

“I currently have 15 scholarship offers,” Hall said earlier this week. “I have my first visit (Thursday) with Michigan State. I haven't planned anything else yet.”

Michigan State hosted several recruits on campus Thursday to tour the faculties, meet the staff and attend the basketball game against Northwestern.

“This will be my first time up there,” Hall said earlier in the week of his MSU visit. “I talk to coach (Pat) Narduzzi a couple times a week. I am hoping to learn more about the program.”

Rivals.com ranks Hall a 4-star recruit for 2015. He is also ranked the No. 7 prospect in Ohio and the No. 144 player in the nation overall. This past fall, he rushed for 1,300 yards and scored 13 touchdowns playing against some of the top competition in Ohio.
Other top recruits to visit Spartans

Several other top Midwestern recruits were expected to be on campus Thursday.

That includes quarterback Alex Malzone of Birmingham Brother Rice. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Malzone had an outstanding junior season for the Warriors. His play helped Brother Rice finish the season undefeated at 14-0 and send coach Al Fracassa out on a high note. For the season, Malzone completed 190 of 281 passes for 2,795 yards and 25 touchdowns. Rivals.com rates Malzone the No. 17 pro-style quarterback prospect in the nation for 2015.
