"Jack Del Rio's jobs before and after his eight-and-a-half years as the Jaguars head coach offered symmetry to his career.

Del Rio is joining John Fox's staff in Denver as the Broncos' defensive coordinator.

"We are thrilled to be able to add such a well-respected defensive coach to our staff," Fox said. "He was an integral part of our turnaround on defense during my first year with the Panthers in 2002. His defenses with the Jaguars have ranked among the NFL's best, and we are excited he's a Bronco."

Before the Jaguars hired him, Del Rio was Carolina's defensive coordinator for the 2002 season while Fox was the head coach. The Panthers went 7-9 that season, but their defense ranked second in the NFL.

Fox and Del Rio had conversations about the job in Mobile, Ala. this week, where both were for the Senior Bowl.

The Jaguars fired Del Rio after he started 3-8 last season. He had a 68-71 regular season record with the franchise and had one playoff win. Del Rio's Jaguars made the playoffs in 2005 and 2007, but never won the division."
