The 1996 baseball season was the Phillies worst one of the past 17 years and now we might know why: they were distracted by a giant blue chest of porn.

Former Eagles defensive tackle Hollis Thomas shared that nugget during his morning radio show in Philadelphia on Thursday.

How would Thomas know about the giant blue chest of porn? The Eagles and Phillies shacked up together at Veterans Stadium until 2002. Thomas' first year in Philadelphia was 1996.

"[The Phillies] did have an awesome... we used to share like the shower and rest room area at the Vet and they had an awesome collection of porn" Thomas said on the 94WIP Morning Show via CBS Philly. "They did it was just like a bunch of books in there. It was just in a chest. When I first got there I was like 'What is this?' They was like 'This is reading material.' I was like 'Reading material?'"

The porn wasn't in just any chest either it was in a giant blue chest.

"Everybody knows about the blue chest" Thomas said. "It was an array a pretty good array of magazines. You actually had a variety too. It was almost like a newsstand put it that way. Actually yeah it was the precursor to the internet. You just picked up one and there was a little sign that said when you're done with the book put it back. I did get a couple of books where the pages were stuck together."
