On Tuesday at Al Lang Field, the Jays will participate in the second annual spring exhibition game against Canada's junior national team as part of executive director Greg Hamilton's initiative to improve the quality and the experience of the country's best under-17 players.
As such, the organization will load some of their key Canadian talent on the bus, including major-league third baseman Brett Lawrie and minor league outfielders Michael Crouse, Marcus Knecht and Dalton Pompey to allow them to reconnect with their roots on a worthwhile afternoon of baseball.
"It was good because obviously those kids know what we all do and they follow our careers and follow the Jays and stuff like that," Lawrie said of the experience from a year ago when he was just a minor-league hopeful experimenting with a position change.
For Blue Jays' Brett Lawrie, facing Team Canada like a family reunion
