The Iowa State football team has reportedly finished filling its final coaching void…again.

According to FootballScoop, Buffalo co-defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach Maurice Linguist will join the Iowa State staff as defensive backs coach.

An Iowa State official declined to comment on the report.

Linguist joined the Buffalo football staff in 2012 after stops at Baylor, Valdosta, and James Madison.

Linguist played his college ball at Baylor where, as a senior, he was the Bears’ most valuable player as a strong safety earning honorable mention All-Big 12 honors.

The Cyclones have had to replace six coaches this season and appeared to be done with their searches until defensive backs coach Troy Douglas departed for Pittsburgh just last week.

Iowa State opens the 2014 season on Aug. 30 against North Dakota State at Jack Trice Stadium.
