Flyers players knew what was coming last Wednesday morning when they were instructed to sit at practice-rink lockers because the GM wanted to address them. Yep, Paul Holmgren was angry, and he chewed everyone out for not competing hard enough the night before in a loss to New Jersey and for a lot of other times this season.
This 15-minute meeting wasn’t just about calling players out, though.
At one point, Holmgren mentioned the 2011-12 Los Angeles Kings had gone down the same road these Flyers are on now ... needing a late-season hot streak just to make the playoffs.
That’s when Simon Gagne, a King last season and Flyer now, took the floor.
