Florida's Chandler Parsons drafted by Houston Rockets at No. 38

"Florida forward Chandler Parsons fell out of the first round of the NBA Draft on Thursday night, but he'll have the chance to prove his talents with Houston.

The Rockets drafted Parsons, this year's SEC Player of the Year, with the 38th overall pick.

Three other teams in the second round passed on Parsons and drafted another small forward, including the Heat.

Miami selected Bojan Bogdanovic from Bosnia with the first pick of the second round - although the Heat traded him. Duke's Kyle Singler went to Detroit at No. 33 and and UCLA's Tyler Honeycutt went at No. 35 to Sacramento.

The 6-foot-10, 221-pound Parsons averaged 11.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists last season while shooting 48 percent, including 36.8 percent from 3-point range. His scoring average improved in each of his four seasons at Florida.

The Casselberry native and Lake Howell product trained some with former Gator David Lee leading up to the draft and has been working to become a more potent shooter."
