"As the Panthers disperse for the seven-day All-Star break perhaps they should search for a magic formula to help them in overtime and shootouts.

Scoring more goals in regulation might help, too.

The Panthers' 3-2 shootout loss to the Flyers Tuesday dropped their overtime mark to 4-11 — the most OT losses in the NHL — and 3-6 in shootouts — the second most shootout defeats.

"We got a good push in the third period because we were stinky in the second," Panthers coach Kevin Dineen said. "We've got to figure out a better formula in the shootout. We're just losing too many points up for grabs and not ending up in our back pocket."
