The Florida Gators pulled away for a 62-52 win over Dayton Saturday night, advancing to the Final Four.

UF ended one frustrating streak and extended another one with the victory.

The No. 1 seed Gators won their 30th consecutive game. And they finally claimed an Elite Eight victory after losing three consecutive times one step away from the Final Four.

UF will play the winner of the No. 7 UConn versus No. 4 Michigan State matchup during the national semifinal game Friday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

UF senior point guard Scottie Wilbekin led the Gators with 23 points, three steals, three assists and zero turnovers. Patric Young chipped in 12 points, six rebounds and four blocks.

Forward Dyshawn Pierre led No. 10 seed Dayton with 16 points.

Dayton stuck with the Gators early, pushing the tempo and scoring in transition. However, UF mounted a run late in the first half to take control of the contest.

UF’s smothering defense set the tone for the game, limiting Dayton to about 20 points below its usual scoring average.
