Luke Kennard, a five-star shooting guard of Franklin, Ohio, announced his commitment to Duke during an assembly at his high school on Monday evening.

Rated by Rivals.com the No. 16 overall prospect in the 2015 recruiting class, Kennard chose the Blue Devils over Ohio State and Kentucky.

"I have decided to pursue my education and college basketball career at Duke," Kennard said as the crowd roared.

Kennard also had scholarship offers from Butler, Dayton, Duke, Indiana, Iowa, North Carolina, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Purdue, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Xavier and others.

The unanimous recipient for Ohio's Mr. Basketball Award, Kennard averaged 41 points, 10.4 rebounds, four assists and two steals per game as a junior.
