"The Knicks had their plate full last night for their free-agent trip to Los Angeles.

At 9 p.m. Pacific Time, they were planning to meet with Washington small forward Mike Miller before sitting down with Atlanta's Joe Johnson in Santa Monica, then finishing it off with a phone chat with Amar'e Stoudemire. According to two sources, Stoudemire may be the likeliest coup and he's set to come to New York by the weekend.

Miller and Johnson are Arn Tellem clients, but are favored to re-sign with their respective clubs.

If the Knicks strike out with Stoudemire and the five elite free agents, including LeBron James, Miller is a serious option because his perimeter shooting is perfect for coach Mike D'Antoni's offense.

The Wizards want to keep Miller, but the Knicks could be in the position to overpay. Miller averaged 10.9 points but shot 50 percent — 48 percent on 3-pointers.

Miller told the Washington Post he's more interested in returning after the Wizards won the first pick, John Wall, and said new owner Ted Leonsis "knows what it takes.""
