First Gabbert, now another dice roll for Jaguars

"Almost nine months ago, the Jaguars went against conventional thinking by trading up in the first round of the draft to select quarterback Blaine Gabbert.

Now general manager Gene Smith, with the approval of new owner Shahid Khan, is rolling the dice again by hiring Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey as the Jaguars' head coach entrusted with developing Gabbert into a legitimate franchise quarterback.

It's still a gamble because Mularkey, despite his University of Florida roots and a high work ethic trait that Smith craves in both coaches and players, has a resume that is unquestionably a mixed bag."
