"Cowboys running back Felix Jones had only one run of more than 20 yards last season, going 34 yards against the Titans. It was one of only six plays - five were passes - that he had that covered at least 25 yards.
But, if one series is any indication, Jones' explosiveness is back.
He had a run of 18 yards against the Broncos, breaking three tackles, and he took a screen pass 16 yards.
"This year I was a little more focused on my skills… and [tried to] make the best of what I had with my time this offseason," said Jones, who had three carries for 23 yards. "I had a little more time to work on my craft. I did a little more explosive work this offseason and put in extra time into it."
The Cowboys have spent a lot of time in training camp on screen passes. When asked about it Tuesday, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said, "If you look at our screen game the past couple of years, it's gotten better and better and better. We continue to work on it. We think it can be a real good weapon for us.""
