Felix Jones shapes up for greater workload

"Felix Jones is not used to seeing the ball as much as he has the past two weeks. The Cowboys running back has been working on his conditioning in an attempt to better handle the increased workload."My role increased, and to get myself ready, I had to get in better shape," Jones said. "That's what I've been doing."Jones had 15 or more touches in a single game only five times in his career before this season. His then career high was 18 in the regular-season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles in 2009.In the first three games of this season, Jones averaged 8.7 touches per game with a high of 10 in the season opener against the Washington Redskins. But the Cowboys have made Jones a bigger part of the offense the past two games. He had 19 touches for 126 yards against the Tennessee Titans and 24 for 93 last week against the Minnesota Vikings."I think he's handled it fine," Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said. "He was actually sick in the last ballgame [against the Vikings]. He had to get an IV at halftime. But he's handled it well, and he's ready to go. He's ready to do whatever you ask him to do. That's the great thing about Felix. He's the kind of kid who's going to smile and say, 'Yes, sir, I'm going to get it done.' And I think he will."Kosier is outStarting left guard Kyle Kosier has been ruled out of Monday night's game. Kosier, who still is wearing a walking boot, said Saturday that an MRI showed a high-ankle sprain as well as a strained right Achilles' tendon. He vows to be back for next week's game against Jacksonville.Montrae Holland will start for Kosier, who was injured on the Cowboys' final drive of the first half last week.Cornerback Mike Jenkins missed Saturday's practice to attend a funeral.Rookie receiver Dez Bryant (right ankle) went through the entire practice and will play Monday night. Linebacker Bradie James (knee) and center Andre Gurode (knee) also practiced Saturday and are probable.Working on penaltiesA popular phrase around Valley Ranch in recent weeks is that the Cowboys have been shooting themselves in the foot. Actually, that's an understatement. It's more like they've had a couple of direct hits at their kneecaps."
