"Warriors guard Monta Ellis entered Wednesday's game against Denver plodding through his worst shooting stretch of the season, but Nuggets coach George Karl knew it wouldn't last forever.
"The Phoenix game, I told my assistant he should have told me not to watch it," Karl said. "It made me scared, because I'm waiting for an explosion."
That explosion came Wednesday night as Ellis erupted for 37 points on 16-of-30 shooting, including 4-of-7 on three-pointers. While Karl may have predicted a big game, there were no signs it was coming.
Ellis went 5-for-17 for 21 points against Phoenix on Monday, making the guard 33-for-94 in a five-game stretch. Ellis went 16-of-53 during a three-game skid in November, but allowing a slump to go this long is a rarity for the electric scorer."
