Fargas back on field, eyes return for Saints

"Running back Justin Fargas returned to practice Monday after missing the past two weeks with a groin injury he sustained in the first half of the Raiders-Kansas City Chiefs game Sept. 14.

He said he isn't 100 percent but intends to play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

"You would like to feel 100 (percent)," Fargas said, "but I don't think I'm there yet. I still have time. I'm still working. If I can go, I'm going to go."

Coach Tom Cable said the bye week helped Fargas in his bid to return to the starting lineup.

"He was champing at the bit to go (Monday) and did a lot of work, good work," Cable said. "We really pushed him on Thursday and through the weekend with his rehab, so we kind of knew what we were getting. He could go out and get quality work in. He did a good job."

Cable said Fargas' return gives offensive coordinator Greg Knapp three quality options at running back, along with rookie Darren McFadden and Michael Bush.

Fargas remains the starter. McFadden and Bush will be used as complementary players and thrust into the lineup depending upon the situation, Cable said."
