The Falcons didn’t wait long after the end of the regular season to say goodbye to their offensive and defensive line coaches as part of an effort to get tougher before the start of next season.

Former Vikings head coach and longtime NFL tight end Mike Tice was named the team’s new offensive line coach and now they’ve hired another former NFL player to coach up their defensive linemen. The team announced that Bryan Cox will join Mike Smith’s staff for the 2014 season.

Cox spent the last two years coaching the front seven in Tampa, but lost his job when the team made the move from Greg Schiano to Lovie Smith. Cox has also coached with the Jets, Dolphins and Browns since ending his playing career after the 2002 season. Cox played 12 years in the NFL with five teams, including the Dolphins, Bears and Jets.
