Ex-wide out Marvin Harrison no longer a fixture with Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis Colts

"Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison played together for eight seasons, forming one of the greatest receiving tandems in history. They were close in so many ways - their numbers (87 and 88, respectively), their lockers (side by side) and their statistics (grab the closest record book).

They were close, all right, except when it came to their relationship.

They "very seldom" talked to each other, Wayne revealed Thursday, adding that he hasn't heard from Harrison in almost a year - not since the future Hall of Famer was released by the Colts last February.

Surprising? Not according to Wayne.

"He's to himself," Wayne said at the Colts' Super Bowl hotel. "He has a lonely soul. He's anti-social. To see him all of a sudden talking to media, that's an imposter. That's not him."

Harrison has been described as shy and aloof, but it's still curious - and, in a way, sad - that he hasn't stayed in touch with Wayne, his old running mate. It seems as if Harrison has severed ties with the organization, as several players said they haven't seen or talked to him since last season.

Not even a text message congratulating them on their second Super Bowl appearance in four years? "I kind of figured it would be this way," Wayne said. "It's not like we were text-messaging buddies for eight years."

Some described it as simply a case of Marvin being Marvin, but it's still weird that his name has rarely come up this week during interview sessions with the players and coaches. He's the forgotten legend.

He certainly hasn't received the Edgerrin James treatment.

When the Colts reached the Super Bowl after the 2006 season, they gave a collective shout-out to the popular James, who wasn't re-signed after a monster rushing performance in '05. After beating the Bears for the championship, the Colts decided to honor James by presenting him with a Super Bowl ring."
