Former Twins infielder Jamey Carroll, who turns 40 in February, has no plans to retire. According to an industry source, Carroll is drawing "significant interest" on the free agent market.

The Kansas City Royals, who acquired Carroll from the Twins in August, paid the veteran utility man a $250,000 buyout on a $2 million team option for 2014. Carroll made $6.5 million total over the past two seasons on a deal he signed with the Twins in November 2011.

Carroll hit a combined .211 in 227 at-bats this season, which he ended with exactly 1,000 career hits
