The often-postponed criminal case against former Detroit Lions receiver Titus Young was delayed again Tuesday, when it was revealed in court that Young is currently being treated in a Los Angeles-area hospital.

“He’s receiving treatment and is in a safe place,” Young’s attorney, Brian Hurwitz, said, after a brief court hearing, at which Young was ordered to appear for another pretrial hearing June 5.

Hurwitz, who replaced Altus Hudson as Young’s lawyer earlier this month, would not say why Young is in in the hospital or what sort of treatment he is receiving.

Young’s father, Richard, has said in the past that Young has a mental disorder that required treatment.
