Lamar Odom had one of his better games as a Maverick on Saturday night. It was clear that coach Rick Carlisle and Odom's teammates and Mavericks fans were coaxing him on, and Odom responded with positive body language and results.

One play in particular stood out. As the final seconds ticked away in the first quarter, Odom held the basketball, isolated on the right wing . With his eyes and a tilt of his head, he motioned teammate Ian Mahinmi to set a pick. Odom faked his defender toward the pick, but instead drove the right baseline. At the last possible instant, he flicked up a pass that Mahinmi dunked with 3.8 seconds left, giving Dallas a 27-11 lead.

Carlisle gave Odom a high-five and a pat on the back after the play. Dirk Nowitzki was one of the first teammates off the bench to congratulate and encourage Odom. It is spontenous plays like that that have been lacking in Odom's game as he attempts to fit in to the Mavericks system.
