"Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey brought a lot of energy against his former team Sunday, but he insisted he didn't bring any desire for revenge to the Superdome as he faced the Giants for the first time since they traded him in the summer of 2008.
"I have no point to prove," he said after the Saints' 48-27 victory. "This wasn't about proving a point. It was about helping our team win. There is no animosity or point proven."
He helped set the tone early in New Orleans' victory with a seven-yard catch for a first down on the opening touchdown drive and then on the second drive he had an 18-yard reception that led to his 1-yard TD grab in the right corner of the end zone to give New Orleans a 14-0 lead.
After he scored, he came up with a new celebration. Maybe it wasn't as creative as the time he punted the ball into the stands at Giants Stadium, but this time he made believe he was "riding a horse.""
