"When Tyreke Evans watches film of himself from recent games, he doesn't like what he sees.
And it was enough to help him decide to take some time off, though he doesn't know for how long.
The second-year Kings guard missed Tuesday night's 118-105 loss to the Houston Rockets because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Evans had resisted sitting out because of the injury.
"It is frustrating because in my mind I think I can go," Evans said. "I just watched some of the film of my layups, and I'm not getting the same lift that I used to last year. It's just a matter of me taking my time, but I'm so anxious to play I've got to try to figure out what I'm going to do."
Kings coach Paul Westphal doesn't sound as if he wants to rush Evans back.
Evans is traveling with the Kings while he continues his treatment and rehabilitation program. He said he would like to play tonight at New Orleans or perhaps Friday at Oklahoma City.
"I don't necessarily expect there to be some magic thing about (today) and that he'll wake up and feel great," Westphal said. "We want him to feel great before he plays."
It was the first game Evans has missed this season because of injury. He didn't play in the season opener at Minnesota because of a league suspension for his no-contest plea to reckless driving."
