"Kings guard Tyreke Evans is still popular around here.
Evans spent one season at the University of Memphis before entering the NBA draft.
But there would be no return to the court Saturday night as Evans missed his sixth consecutive game because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot.
Evans said he would return to Los Angeles this Tuesday and the following Tuesday to complete the shock-wave treatment to alleviate the pain that has bothered him all season.
Following the Kings' 120-92 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum, Evans described the shock-wave process of putting his foot into a machine.
"It felt like a woodpecker pecking on the bottom of my foot for 10 minutes," Evans said.
The Kings are 2-9 without Evans this season. He doesn't enjoy watching the Kings get blown out, but his foot is improving with rest.
Evans would like to rush the healing process but is taking his doctor's advice and not forcing himself back on the court. He'll be out at least two more weeks.
Evans said as soon as he's cleared to stop wearing a walking boot, he would like to start shooting.
"It feels much better," Evans said. "I think I can walk right; I don't think I need the boot. But the doctor said, 'Keep the boot on.' "
More injuries - Starting forward Jason Thompson left the game with 2:24 left in the third quarter with a sprained right ankle and did not return.
It's the same ankle that forced Thompson to miss three games this month. He said this injury didn't feel as bad and that he should be fine. Thompson said he also jammed his left heel on a dunk earlier in the quarter."
