"It's not a surprise the Cardinals plan to talk to Todd Haley about returning to run the offense. The Cardinals were at their offensive peak in 2008 when they went to the Super Bowl with Haley calling plays and coordinating the offense.
It turned out to be Haley's last year with the team. He was hired by the Chiefs in February 2009. But it wasn't just Haley the Cardinals lost. Kurt Warner retired after the 2009 season, and most of the Cardinals offensive woes since can be traced to the failure to adequately replace Warner.
It's natural, and too convenient, to look back and say the Cardinals' offensive success in 2008 was due solely to one man. Some want to give all the credit to Warner. The reasoning is that he made coaches look good."
