"ESPN baseball scribe Buster Olney is reporting that the Giants have won a waiver claim on Padres closer Heath Bell. With Brian Wilson and Sergio Romo out, the Giants certainly could use Bell, but the chances of him coming north are very slim.

That the Giants won the claim is not surprising. Claims are awarded in reverse order of the standings, and the Giants have the worst record among NL teams with a chance to reach the playoffs. They have probably won a bunch of waiver claims that have not become public."
