EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR could be given an escape route out of Tottenham with Turkish side Besiktas set to renew their interest in January.

The former Arsenal striker has been frozen out by manager Andre Villas-Boas following the arrival of Roberto Soldado in the summer and was told to train with the club's reserves.

However Beskitas vice president, Ahmet Nur Cebi, has revealed it is the club's intentions to step up their pursuit of Adebayor.

"We were interested in Adebayor in August. The club will chase Adebayor again in January, but it is difficult to recruit such a player," he told Besiktas TV.

The 29-year-old joined Spurs initially on-loan from Manchester City in 2011 before making the move to White Hart Lane permanent the following the summer.

Adebayor, however, has struggled to recapture the form shown in that first season in which he scored an impressive 18 times in 37 appearances.
