Emmanuel Adebayor will bank £1.4million if he is still at White Hart Lane in February and the payment will financially hurt both Tottenham and Manchester City.

Spurs must pay City the money by the end of January as part of a £5m transfer fee for the Togo international when he joined them on a permanent basis at the start of last season.

But because the former Arsenal and Real Madrid striker took a pay cut to move to London, City have to top up his wages and as soon as the £1.4m is deposited in their account it will be transferred to the 29-year-old forward.
