"General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with defenceman Ladislav Smid on a two-year deal.

Smid, 25, has spent the past five seasons with Edmonton after being acquired from Anaheim in 2006. Last year the 6'3", 225-pound defenceman appeared in 78 games collecting 10 assists and 85 penalty minutes."
