Edin Dzeko has revealed he chose to stay at Roma and ignore interest from Chelsea because of his 'unreal' experience of life in Italy.

Dzeko admitted Chelsea's interest was a compliment for him but he was happy to stay in Rome as it is the city where his son was born.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wanted to sign a target man to play in attack for the second half of the season and eventually brought in Olivier Giroud from Arsenal.

'There was speculation, some untrue and even some ridiculous claims,' Dzeko said to Bosnian website Klix.

'I really enjoyed the interest of Chelsea, a club I respect and appreciate. In the last few weeks, so many stories have been told about my departure from Rome, and I am still here today.

'Finally, I'm happy to stay in Rome, because it became my home and an incredible part of my life, life in an almost unreal way.
