Eagles still need to add 3 assistants

"It's been nearly three weeks since Eagles coach Andy Reid fired defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, and the team still hasn't found a replacement.

More names have either officially or reportedly been ruled out -- Dick Jauron, Dennis Allen, Darren Perry -- than have emerged as viable candidates.

Since the McDermott firing, the only known candidate flown in for an interview is Allen, the former Saints secondary coach who recently accepted Broncos head coach John Fox's offer to be Denver's defensive coordinator.

One source has continued to confirm that the Eagles are interested in an assistant from either the Packers or Steelers, who will play Sunday in the Super Bowl, but it's not known whether the assistant is No. 1 on the Eagles' list.

One name to keep in mind is Steelers secondary coach Ray Horton, who was reportedly targeted by the Cowboys before Rob Ryan took the position.

The Cardinals, according to a league source, have also shown interest in landing Horton as their defensive coordinator.

McDermott's void isn't the only coaching vacancy Reid is looking to fill. It was learned last week that linebackers coach Bill Shuey was not retained after his contract expired at the end of the season, and the team still needs to replace Jauron, the former Eagles secondary coach who became defensive coordinator in Cleveland.

The team hasn't made any official announcement, but it might go in-house to fill the Jauron and Shuey vacancies.

Don't be surprised if Michael Zordich, a defensive quality-control coach and former Eagles safety, earns a promotion. Mike Caldwell, an assistant linebackers coach and former Eagles linebacker, could also take on a greater coaching role."
