"For more than six hours, LeSean McCoy worked the clock from the sidelines.
The Eagles running back, back in his hometown to host his second annual community day, kept time for many of the basketball games during the "Shady's Shootout" portion of events on Saturday.
McCoy, like some of his teammates, has passed the time during the NFL lockout by training in other locales. He has spent much of the offseason in Miami, but said he would join quarterback Michael Vick and other Eagles if informal workouts get off the ground next week.
"I plan on it," McCoy said. "If we have it I'll be there. We really miss that stuff, man."
Vick said Friday that he was organizing practices to be held in the Philadelphia area and that he expected approximately 15 players - some who won't be Eagles - to attend.
McCoy said he had yet to talk to his quarterback about the workouts. Vick was expected to make an appearance Saturday but had to cancel, McCoy said, "because of the weather."
Eagles tight end Brent Celek, guard Todd Herremans, running back Eldra Buckley, and linebacker Jamar Chaney did attend the event held at Reservoir Park, just a Hail Mary pass away from Bishop McDevitt High, McCoy's former school. McCoy's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, was also there.
The third-year running back has been working with trainers affiliated with Rosenhaus in Florida. McCoy said that he added some weight after the season but that "now I'm pretty good."
"You know how it is - the offseason and then the lockout came," McCoy said. "It's tough when you don't have a facility to go to. I think a lot of guys take it for granted. I know, myself, I did.""
