"Vince Young on Thursday more or less confirmed that he is preparing to start at quarterback for the Eagles Sunday night against the New York Giants.
Young looks to be next in line behind Michael Vick, who sat out practice again Thursday with a pair of cracked ribs, although coach Andy Reid has refused to declare Vick out or whether Young or Mike Kafka would replace him.
Following what he called a productive two days of practice, Young said his confidence level was growing but was only focused on winning.
"It's really not even about me," he said. "It's about the team, and I just want to go out there and lead the guys to a victory. That's basically it, nothing about me, nothing about getting back to [the field] and that kind of stuff.
"It's a team game, and I just want to go out there and win a ballgame and be a leader for the guys."
Young doesn't know what to expect from the Giants on Sunday, but he's confident he'll be able to counter whatever they do, especially if they blitz more.
"I know my coaches got me prepared for that, the different leads," he said. "Howie [Mudd], one of the best O-line coaches in the league, he does a great job of keeping it simple for us and making the right checks and the things that we have to do to make sure we're protected."
