"The Eagles on Tuesday found the veteran tailback they've been searching for, agreeing to a one-year contract with unrestricted free agent Ronnie Brown.
Brown, 29, has spent his entire six-year career with the Dolphins and ranks third in franchise history with 4,815 yards, behind only Larry Csonka (6,737) and Ricky Williams (6,436).
Brown, a 1,000-yard rusher in 2006, scored 36 rushing touchdowns and had a 4.3 average with the Dolphins, who made him the second pick in the 2005 draft out of Auburn.
Brown is also an outstanding receiver, something that's imperative in the Eagles' offense. He caught 184 passes for 1,491 yards with the Dolphins and had 30 or more catches in five of his six seasons in Miami.
Other than starter LeSean McCoy, the Eagles' only experienced running back currently under contract is rarely used Eldra Buckley.
"Ronnie is an all-around running back with a versatile skill set," said Eagles general manager Howie Roseman. "He can run the ball, catch it and does very well in pass protection. He'll add some good size to our backfield and he's a good character guy. "
