Though Dustin Pedroia wasn't happy about missing last night's 15-5 Red Sox win against the Miami Marlins, a one-game absence has to be considered a best-case scenario.

Pedroia, who missed six games earlier this month with a torn muscle in his right thumb, initially feared he re-injured the thumb after getting jammed on a pop-up in the seventh inning of Tuesday night's win in the series opener.

"I think it scared me more than anything," Pedroia said. "My hand slipped off the bat and my thumb got caught. It kind of freaked me out more than anything."
