The Duke Blue Devils will play its exhibition finale against Bowie State without one of their top incoming freshman. Point guard Trevon Duval has been ruled out due a “violation of team standards,” the program announced in a statement.

Duval is one piece of Duke’s decorated 2017 class. The guard is a consensus five-star recruit out of Bradenton, Florida, where he played at prestigious IMG Academy, a hotbed for prized recruits on both the hardwood and gridiron. Duval was pursued by a wave of “Power Five” powerhouses, and that’s sure to come when you’re ranked as the No. 6 player in the nation, No. 2 point guard and No. 1 player in the Florida, as 247 tagged Duval.

Duke’s incoming class is so stacked that Duval isn’t even the best recruit — that badge of honor belongs to Marvin Bagley, the consensus No. 1 player out of the 2017 cycle. Additionally, head coach Mike Krzyzewski landed five-stars in shooting guard Gary Trent Jr. and power forward Wendell Carter.
