"Homecoming, delayed.
After almost two years, former Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere gets to say thank you to the fans in the building where he helped Anaheim win the Stanley Cup in 2007.
Giguere, who is now with the Colorado Avalanche, was traded to Toronto on Jan. 31, 2010, and the Ducks happened to be on a trip when the deal was completed. The Ducks will honor him with a video tribute during the game's first TV timeout Saturday night at Honda Center.
"It's going to be nice to be able to go to where I feel is my second home and where my kids have been born," he said Friday morning on a conference call with reporters. "It's a very special place for me. It's obviously where I've had the most success in my career, so I'm really thrilled to be able to go back and play games against the Ducks in Anaheim.
"This game has been on my mind all year. I've been looking at the calendar. The first game I looked at was when we would play in Anaheim. I've been looking forward to it since the beginning of the year, and I'm hoping the reaction is going to be good."
Giguere, 34, is still honest about his own game, the same way he was with the Ducks. Monday he was named the NHL's third star of the week, going 3-0-0 with a 1.60 goals-against-average."
