"Six games without a point might not be a cause for concern for some players but it's much different when you're the team's leading goal scorer and it's third-leading point producer overall.
Until he assisted on Saku Koivu's tying goal in regulation Friday night against Vancouver, Ducks left wing Bobby Ryan went that long without a point. But it was his ineffectiveness and lack of scoring chances that's really set off the alarm bells.
"I think it's just a lull," said Ryan, who has 31 goals. "When things aren't getting to you or the pucks aren't really finding you and your shots aren't kind of hitting the net, it's tough. You just kind of try to stay with it. Get back to basics. Whether it's chipping the puck and going to get it and creating on your own or finding soft areas for guys.
"Hopefully you come out of it in time and you get to hit a nice little stretch before we finish here."
Ryan had one of his better games in a while Friday as he drew a penalty on a breakaway he created with a strong defensive play, and had a team-high five shots on goal in the 5-4 shootout loss to the Canucks.
Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said his winger simply hasn't been physical and has shied away from working around the net at the offensive end."
