"There was no reason to chant for Kyle Orton on Sunday. No basis to search for Brett Favre. No need for the Dolphins' fan base to boo quarterback Chad Henne during practice, as they did just one week ago.
Instead, under an ominous sky at the team's facility, Henne delivered a decent dose of hope at a scrimmage five days before Miami's first preseason game. Most importantly, his connection with wide receiver Brandon Marshall looked legit.
"It's really the very first day we connected pretty well," Henne said of he and Marshall. "The previous practices, we weren't on the same page. We talked before practice, we communicated and we got it done."
The duo first ignited the crowd with a 29-yard touchdown pass to the corner of the end zone, where Marshall made a pretty grab with cornerback Sean Smith in tight coverage. Marshall celebrated by heaving the football into the stands.
On the next play, they hooked up again when Henne threw a 9-yard dart to Marshall, who was streaking across the back of the end zone. By the day's end, the combination accounted for four completions — three for touchdowns.
Marshall declined interview requests after practice."
