Dolphins' Channing Crowder gives lift to run `D'

"The Dolphins have certainly had their share of issues during the last few games, but there's one area that is clearly ascending at a nice rate. Miami has held each of its past two opponents (the Packers and the Steelers) to an average of 67 rushing yards per game.

Coincidentally, linebacker Channing Crowder was in the lineup for the first time this season during both games.

Or is it a coincidence at all?

``I mean, Channing would probably want me to tell you the whole thing is attributed to him,'' coach Tony Sparano joked Wednesday.

On a more serious note, Sparano did say he believes the run defense is much more stout with Crowder, who has now recovered from a groin injury, in the game.

``It makes a difference having Channing back in there,'' Sparano said. ``It makes a big difference because he's another downhill player, and I thought the other day, our linebackers in the run game really played downhill well.''

Wherever the credit belongs, Miami hopes to keep it going. The Dolphins held the Steelers to 58 yards on the ground and limited the Packers to 76 yards.

Have you finally been able to move past the controversial and costly call that contributed to Miami's loss to the Steelers on Sunday?

Sparano said he has."
