Sunday's matinee against the Carolina Hurricanes won't go down as one of the Washington Capitals' more complete performances of the season. In fact, there were few moments at Verizon Center in which they seemed firmly in control of the contest. But the Capitals found a way to capture a win.

Boosted by Dmitry Orlov's first NHL goal, which stood as the game-winner, and a 43-save outing by Tomas Vokoun, the Capitals claimed a 2-1 win over Carolina that catapulted them to first place in the Southeast Division and third in the Eastern Conference.
