Lamar Odom showed Saturday night in a surprising and triumphant return against the Utah Jazz what a valuable player he can be for the Dallas Mavericks.

Odom, who recorded nine points, five rebounds and three assists in Dallas' 102-96 victory, can take the Mavericks to another level, coach Rick Carlisle said.

"When he walked in tonight, there was a bounce in his step that we hadn't seen," Carlisle said. "This is by far the most energy he's played with the entire year and I don't think it's close.

"Whatever he's gone through has been tough. Now he's back and we need him. His minutes are very valuable."
