The Devils have assigned rookie left wing Reid Boucher to Albany of the AHL. Boucher, 20, had two goals and five assists in 23 NHL games since being called up on Dec. 4. He picked up an assist on Jaromir Jagr’s goal in Tuesday’s 7-1 win over St. Louis. Boucher was leading Albany with 10 goals in 21 AHL games before he was called up and also had eight assists. Sending Boucher to Albany opens up a spot on the 23-player NHL roster, but the Devils have yet to make a corresponding move to fill that spot. It could be as simple as they are going to activate defenseman Peter Harrold, who has been out since Dec. 7 with a fractured foot, from injured reserve. I left a phone message for Devils GM Lou Lamoriello late this afternoon, but he did not return my call.
