The New Jersey Devils have placed goaltender Corey Schneider on injured reserve retroactive to Jan. 23, the team announced on Monday. To account for his absence, New Jersey recalled forward Nick Lappin from the Binghamton Devils, its American Hockey League affiliate.

Schneider continues to ail from a groin injury he suffered on Jan. 23 against the Boston Bruins. He’s been sidelined ever since despite the Devils failing to disclose the severity of his injury. Now on injured reserve, Schneider is due to miss at least three more games before potentially returning to the ice on Feb. 18 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
