Head coach Pete DeBoer said this afternoon that right wing Matt D’Agostini is scheduled to arrive in New Jersey tonight and will make his Devils’ debut Saturday night against the Florida Panthers.

DeBoer said he hasn’t figured out yet which line D’Agostini will play on, but believes he will be a good addition to the team.

“I’m excited,” DeBoer said. “Obviously, he’s scored 20 goals in the NHL before. I coached against him when he was in junior when he played for (Devils assistant coach) Dave Barr in Guelph, so we’ve got some familiarity with his game and I think he’ll fit in well here.”

The Devils acquired D’Agostini, 26, and a conditional seventh-round pick in 2015 from the St. Louis Blues earlier today in exchange for a conditional fourth or fifth-round pick in 2015.

D’Agostini is slated to become a restricted free agent this summer. If the Devils qualify or re-sign him, the Blues get the Devils’ 2015 fourth-round pick and keep their seventh-round pick. If the Devils decide not to qualify or re-sign D’Agostini, they get St. Louis’ 2015 seventh-round pick and the Blues get the Devils’ 2015 fifth-round pick
